A career as an animator can be as varied as the projects you’ll work on. Here are the pathways a Collarts degree can lead to.
2D Animators bring static images to life using traditional or digital techniques. The main challenge is creating movement and action sequences, and injecting personality and emotion into characters and scenes through frame-by-frame or puppet animation.
Average industry salary:
Character Animators focus on breathing life into characters. Using expertise in movement, anatomy, and acting, they animate characters to convey personality, emotion, and narrative. They collaborate closely with other animators and artists to ensure consistency and believability in character performances.
Average industry salary
Technical Animators bridge the gap between art and technology. They work closely with animators and programmers to develop tools, rigs, and pipelines that streamline the animation process. Their role involves rigging characters, creating animation controls, developing procedural animation systems, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure smooth animation production.
