From graduating with a first-class honors in photography at Griffith University, to starting an international volunteer agency in Guatemala, Monique has now turned her attention to fashion and sustainability.

For the past 10 years she has been a dedicated photographer self funding documentary projects across the globe. She has experience shooting for modelling agencies, magazines, online blogs, and exhibiting work across Australia. She was the youngest finalist in the NPPP in 2014 and was award best portfolio and research project in 2015.

More recently, turning her attention to fashion having started two fashion brands since 2020, both different stems of her passions and personality.Texcoco Collective is culmination of her love for the environment, passion for design and deep respect and concern for the state of the earth. It’s one of few sustainable Australian labels that works with local artisans and skilled workers to craft beautiful vegan bags made from Mexican cactus leather, actively helping to turn the tide on wasteful practices.High Wasted Society is the quirky, colourful, fun side. HWS was founded to bring back tailor made clothing, for everyone.

Monique started this journey because she want to give the experience of bespoke handmade fashion, and feeling great in your clothes. Monique’s mission is to create timeless pieces that feel incredible to wear. To educate and inspire people about sustainable fashion, cherishing their clothing and fall in love with the world around us.
