With great attention to detail, Mixing Engineers orchestrate the technical aspects of ensuring optimal sound quality and seamless operation of equipment. These days this could be in a recording studio as an engineer, music producer, a mastering session, at a live gig, for a film or TV show, or a live broadcast. From making anything sound good, to mixing tracks, they shape the artistic vision of each client. There is a lot of work for this type of professional.
Average industry salary*:
The Post-Production industry is huge, and the roles vary from Foley Artists, Sound Designers, Mixing Engineers, ADR Specialists, SFX (Sound Effects) Engineers to Dialogue Editors. Think of how many shows are on streaming platforms right now - everything you hear had these roles put their special touch on them.
Average industry salary*:
Ensure flawless audio and vision at concerts, events, festivals and performances. Set up sound systems, lighting shows, vision, manage equipment, and troubleshoot issues in real time to ensure every audience member hears and sees the show exactly as intended. Yes. Students can study on-campus, online, or through a combination of both.
Pro Tools is the main DAW used in this course. It is the industry standard for post-production and professional recording studios. Many other software platforms are covered during the course, and opportunities for you to dive deeper into Logic Pro and Ableton are available via electives.
In the Audio Production course, there is more emphasis on Live Production, Post-Production (sound for film) and Recording Studios (engineering and producing). Getting work in the audio and associated industries is a focus of this course.
