Collarts, the Australian College of the Arts, presents 'Beyond the Hanger: The Lifecycle of Your Clothing'

Thinking about how to shop more sustainably and what to do with your clothes you no longer enjoy or want to wear? In this session, our industry expert guest speakers will discuss alternative retail business models (resales, rental, subscription), what actions Australian brands are taking, and the ways we can safely discard our clothes once they have done their time in our wardrobe options.

Agenda:
  1. Alternative Retail Models - Different ways to shop and looking into alternative retailers inlcuding: Depop, FB Marketplace, Vestiaire, AirRobe, Swap Up
  2. Donation and Recycling Initiatives and Innovations - The social and environmental benefits of donating clothes to those in need, and addressing common misconceptions or concerns about clothing donation, such as where the clothes end up and how they are used.
  3. Quality Assessment Workshop - Now that we've talked about alternative retail and recycling initiatives, learn how to assess garments up close and personal.
