At Collarts, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible women and non-gender-conforming students who shape our creative community. This International Women’s Day, we recognise their talent, resilience, and impact across all disciplines.
Creativity knows no boundaries, and we’re committed to fostering an inclusive space where everyone can thrive, collaborate, and redefine the future of their industries. Here’s to the changemakers, the innovators and the voices making waves at Collarts and beyond! 💜
''I'm so proud to be a woman who produces. There is not much representation or recognition for femmes in the field, which is something I'd love to see and help change in the future—because the girlies do be putting out all the best sh*t on the down low. Be loud, be ambitious, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Happy IWD!'' (Vanessa, Music Production Student)
Music Production student Vanessa Sanchez-Cosic is an electronic-leaning producer inspired by drum and bass, jungle, breaks, pop, and R&B. She thrives on lush harmonies and warm synths. When she's not in the studio, you’ll find her on the dancefloor. Vanessa is currently working on an EP set for release in the coming months. In the meantime, check out her latest track, The Line, streaming now on all platforms.
Vidhi is currently working at Intermission Film (a Trailer, Key Art and Content company) as their team assistant in the Australian office. She’s worked on projects like Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar, Disney social campaigns such as Agatha All Along, and most recently helped with Apple TV+’s Dope Thief trailer and social campaign.
She’s also recently been producing an ad for Collarts’ Women in Cinematography Club to attract prospective students to join. She hopes to one day become a producer and create impact films and documentaries that empower people to make positive change.
Francesca is a Production Designer and Director who grew up in Italy and Australia. Her work is deeply influenced by themes of identity, migration, and belonging.
Her latest film, Homi, is a documentary following Afghan refugee Homaira Mershedi as she navigates her daily life—managing her family's restaurant in Fitzroy, shopping for fresh produce, and running AADO, an NGO dedicated to supporting women and girls in Afghanistan through education and training. With a predominantly female crew, including Francesca, Rachael Phillips, and Mercedes Martinez Lestard in key roles, Homi will be screening at ACMI as part of the Melbourne Women's Film Festival on March 22 at 4 PM.
