Entertainment management is a field that’s constantly growing and evolving, which makes it an exciting industry to jump into at any stage in your career journey.
Earlier this year, Sound NSW released a first-of-its-kind report exploring the cultural and economic impact of the live music industry in NSW. This report found that over 14,000 people across the state were employed within the live music industry.
90.9% of study respondents who worked in the industry called live music “a powerful form of cultural expression, particularly for marginalised groups.”
The breadth, cultural significance and economic output of live music and other forms of live entertainment make them incredibly appealing fields for creative minds – whether their passions lie on or off the stage.
If you’re interested in the business side of live entertainment, you could pursue a rewarding career in entertainment management.
Management positions exist in all corners of the entertainment industry, including positions at record labels, marketing and social media companies, radio and television programs, booking agencies, and talent management companies.
Our Applied Business (Entertainment Management) course looks deep into the business side of the ever-evolving entertainment industry. It’s designed for creative minds whose passion lies in organisation, logistics and behind-the-scenes action.
You’ll graduate with a sharp business acumen and carefully honed management skills. By developing a combination of valuable skills, theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, you’ll become a pro in logistical management – equipped with an understanding of business law, strategy and the inner workings of the entertainment and music industry.
Our smaller, more hands-on classes are taught by experienced industry mentors working in management, publicity, festival organisation, touring and recording. This encourages students to really get their hands dirty and take control of their own education, and contributes to producing determined and agile graduates year after year.
At Collarts, we know that the creative industries rely heavily on collaboration, networking and effective creative partnerships. Entertainment Management students collaborate with creatives from other disciplines to broaden their industry knowledge, as well as gaining real-life experience through industry placements to start building their professional networks early.
Program Leader Chrissie Vincent explains, “With over 40 years working in the music business and creative industries, I wanted to ensure that students are given a thorough understanding of how the industry works in order for them to launch into any aspect of the business they are passionate about.”
