1) Music Careers: Building Your Personal Brand

This panel discussion is focused on providing you with knowledge and resources to build a career in the music industry. Discussion will include information about education, volunteer and intern opportunities from a varied panelist, which includes artist managers, publicists and our very own Tim Dalton (Program Leader for Entertainment Management).

2) Breaking Down A Breakthrough Release

This session covers a live case study of Australian metal band Hearts Wake and how they used out-of-the-box marketing, publicity and media campaigns to launch their debut album and their music careers. The panel discussion includes one of the founding band members, as well as a team from music record label UNFD – including artist manager, digital marketer, label manager and head of recorded music.

3) The Changing Nature Of How Bands Break

The standout lineup on this panel includes Ben Thompson (Director of Corner Presents), Jen Long (Music Editor for DICE), Pam Thornback (Marketing Director for Inertia Records) and Johann Ponniah (Director of I OH YOU). The panel will explore how bands can break nationally and internationally and will specifically look at online tactics that artists can use to build fan bases in the ever-changing digital environment.

4) Meet The Industry

A selection of the Australian music industry’s finest will be made available for an hour of individual sessions, where you can ask your specific questions about working in the music industry. The industry panelists include Beat Magazine Music Editor, Collarts Marketing and Admissions Manager, Communications Coordinator from Music Victoria and APRA AMCOS Representative. Ask anything from artist management tips to how to discover and promote new talent. This session is by appointment only, so make sure to book your place.
