We can’t deny our love for a festival that is all about embracing the start of summer, the Australian bush, music, arts and good times. That’s why we’re excited about Strawberry Fields (three-day camping) festival and its epic array of music and art performances, workshops, installations and yoga sessions, which kicks off this Friday.
We’ve somehow managed to whittle down a selection of 5 must-see music acts for the festival – have a listen:
1) Willow Beats
Melbourne niece/uncle duo whose electric tunes have an overarching fantasy feel. Kalyani’s ethereal voice intertwines beautifully with Narayana’s mix and the due are about to embark on their Australian tour after the recent release of their EP, Water.
Solo musician and producer from Adelaide who mixes instrumental hip bop with subtle synth and melody. Oisima is joining Willow Beats on their Aus tour – if you can’t get to Strawberry Fields, this tour is the perfect way to catch two great acts.
3) Maribou State
These two music producers from London come up with some pretty beautiful songs. Tracks off their EP, Truths, embrace pretty string instrumentals, which move to down tempo bass and beats.
The five young lads from Melbourne only released their first tack in 2013, but quickly gained local and international interest in their catchy singles, which draw from hip-hop, funk and pop genres.
Deep house and techno duo from Germany, who are inspired by Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock. The make great use of samples, synth and orchestral instrumentation.
