Ainslie Wills

Vocal and Songwriting Teacher

Melodic architect and soulful crooner Ainslie Wills has been writing and performing her brand of progressive pop within Australia since 2007, when she was unearthed by Triple J not long after finishing her Bachelor of Music Performance degree at the Victorian College of the Arts.

Her 2013 album, You Go Your Way, I’ll Go Mine was nominated for the Melbourne Music and Australian Music prizes and has received ongoing critical acclaim. Rolling Stone claimed it “a beguiling debut” and Dom Alessio from Triple J described it as “A dark, moody and self-assured first record.” Her most recent offering Oh The Gold was featured on BBC6, ABC Radio National, PBS 106.7, RRR and Bandcamp Weekly. The first single off the album, Drive, was added to full rotation on Triple J.

Over the last 10 years, Ainslie has been lucky enough to perform alongside the likes of Leon Bridges, Hiatus Kaiyote, Lianne La Havas, Missy Higgins, Bernard Fanning, John Butler, Clare Bowditch and Michael Kiwanuka. More recently, Ainslie teamed up with Tom Iansek of Big Scary and #1 Dads fame to co-write the single So Soldier on the AIR nominated album About Face.

In addition to writing and performing Ainslie has worked as a vocal coach and music industry mentor for the past 12 years and loves to share and exchange information with like-minded, passionate music lovers.
