Clio Renner is a Melbourne born pianist, keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter. An up-and-coming solo artist, she is also fast becoming one of the city’s most sought after session players.
Clio grew up studying classical piano, moving into the world of jazz and improvisation through her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts, where she received several awards for outstanding academic performance. (The Lionel Gell Scholarship, The Marion Estate Trust and the Ivan Oliver Listening award.)
In 2015 Clio was approached to play keys in the house band for the SBS television show Rockwiz. Since joining the show, she has worked closely with some of Australia’s most respected musicians including Vika and Linda Bull.
Clio’s work as a session musician continues to develop; she played with the Deborah Conway band in 2015 and is currently a member of the Angus and Julia Stone touring band.
Clio has composed a large body of work for her solo project, Clio, over the last three years. The ‘genre-diversity’ in her song writing has placed her music in the Top 20 of the Triple J unearthed charts and led her to headline the Creative Vocal Series for the Melbourne International Women’s Jazz Festival in 2014. Clio is set to release her debut album in 2016.
