Digital Marketing Coordinator
As well as being our resident Digital Marketing expert, Yama Indra has extensive experience as an Educator, Producer, Artist, DJ, Mix Engineer and Composer.
Yama started his musical journey in Melbourne’s indie-electronic scene as the driving force behind bands Damn Arms and Snap! Crakk!, before establishing his solo artist/producer moniker GLOVES.
Between his projects, he’s performed across the UK, Europe, Asia and USA a few times over, taken to the stage at homegrown festivals like Splendour in the Grass, Laneway, Parklife and Field Day, plus played national and international tours with the likes of Cut Copy, The Klaxons, The Kills, Test Icicles (Dev Hynes of Blood Orange’s band) and many more. He’s also held a long list of DJ residencies at legendary late night institutions including 3rd Class, IVY, Bucket List and Harpoon Harry’s.
Yama’s music has been released on Bang Gang 12s, Ministry of Sound, One Love, Lektroluv (Belgium) and Timberyard records, with his music receiving high rotation on JJJ, 3RRR and FBi Radio in Australia, as well as getting extensive air time on BBC1 and XFM (now Radio X) in the UK.
His music production skills have seen him producing, mix engineering and remixing for a who’s who of Australian music including Asta, Cut Copy, Kimbra, JET, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror, Van She, Sneaky Sound System, Letters to Lions and Gold Fields. Yama also spent an extended period working under Scott Horscroft (ARIA award winning engineer/producer of The Presets) on his Archangelsky roster of producers alongside Eric J Dubowsky (mix engineer for Flume, Chet Faker) and Bourke Reid (Gerling). In the studio, he’s also worked alongside Nicholas Littlemore (Empire of the Sun) and spent some time as Andrew Klippel’s (Chaka Khan, Jess Kent) production assistant.
As a composer, he’s created contemporary scores for the Sydney Youth Orchestra, soundtracked fashion shows across Asia and Australia for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Macquarie Centre, and composed music for TVC clients including Commonwealth Bank of Austalia, Grocon and Strongbow.
After completing a BA in Music Industry and an Adv. Diploma in Technical Production, Yama spent four years lecturing and developing electronic music production focused curriculum for Ableton Liveschool in Sydney (where he was also the Marketing and Events Manager) before making the move back to Melbourne to take up his role as Digital Marketing Coordinator for Collarts.
