The Society of Tastemakers & Elegant People (aka STEP) host regular Melbourne music get togethers that combine industry panel discussions and live music performances.
Since launching earlier this year, STEP has been climbing from strength to strength and engaging with a growing network within the Australian music community.
Off the back of three hugely successful panel events, ‘Young Labels’, ‘The Critic’ and ‘The Managers’ which featured the likes of Jen Cloher, Mikey Cahill, Jake Cleland, Milwaukee Banks and many more, STEP brought the internet’s biggest music NERD Anthony Fantano down under and also hosted one of BIGSOUND’s most talked about parties, ‘No Sleep ‘Til Wednesday’. Most recently STEP were invited to curate ‘The Mavericks of Modern Music’ panel at 2014’s Face The Music Conference.
Now, STEP are proud to announce that in 2015 Collarts will come on board as a partner, allowing STEP’s network, scope and events to further expand.
“Having Collarts onboard will allow STEP to further its reach, bring interstate performing artists and speakers to the events and pretty much make the already existing positive experience an even better one,” says Ashley Sambrooks, one-half of STEP.
The next STEP event ‘The Artist’ will be happening on Wednesday, January 21 at The Toff in Town. ‘The Artist’ discussion with feature Chela, Remi (and Sensible J), Banoffee and Oscar Key Sung. Nick Clarke will once again moderate the session and live performances will come from experimental Melbourne outfit friendships and hip-hop newcomers RaRa.
