Collarts are a proud working partner of STEP and we’re especially excited to present the upcoming event, ‘Women in Australian Music’.
The Society of Tastemakers & Elegant People (aka STEP) host regular Melbourne music get togethers that combine industry panel discussions and live music performances.
Taking place at The Toff in Town on Wednesday 1st July, the next STEP event, ‘Women in Australian Music’, is set to be a melting pot of interesting perspectives, ideas and actions surrounding the current Australian music industry. Discussion will centre around a variety of topics including the challenges women face in the Australian music industry and how we can work together to encourage a new generation of female leaders.
Coming together for this panel will be Clare Bowditch as moderator; LISTEN co-founder and acclaimed musician Evelyn Morris; staff writer for Rookie and senior editor at The Good Copy, Brodie Lancaster; Melbourne musician and respected venue booker, Emily Ulman; music journalist and author of Cherry Bomb Jenny Valentish; and Helen Marcou of SLAM and co-owner of Bakehouse Studios.
Performing a DJ set before the panel discussion will be Whiskey Houston – purveyor of the finest kind of boogie-disco-pop, and local indie-pop darlings Totally Mild will give a special set to close the night.
Tickets are $10 and available here.
